God loves a humble person of contrite spirit

For you do not desire Sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The Sacrifices of God are a broken Spirit, a broken and a contrite heart- these, O God, You will not despise. Psalm 51:16-17

David’s passion in LIFE was to have favour with ALMIGHTY GOD, to prepare a dwelling place for YAHWEH in his heart and in JERUSALEM. This seed was planted when he was a young shepherd boy; it was watered by Samuel’s anointing; and matured by Saul’s pursuit. David developed a ❤️ heart attitude that moved GOD to action and produced favour with the KING of kings. David pursued GOD even when he was HOMELESS and in great distress.

Our quest should constantly be to SEEK HIS PRESENCE . How do we develop a desire to pursue ALMIGHTY GOD? It is through COMMUNICATION with HIM. As you and I spend time in HIS PRESENCE, we position ourselves to receive HIS FAVOUR and HIS GRACE.

David, in Psalm 27:4, wrote, “One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the? house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in HIS temple”
Beloved, what is your own desire?

David longed for the presence of ALMIGHTY GOD to surround him, and he craved the BLESSING of ADONAI on his LIFE; he coveted the relationship he knew would come with spending time in GOD’S presence and valued the closeness he found there.

It is so easy in this LIFE to get sidetracked by the pursuit of things that we fail to stop and spend time in the presence of ALMIGHTY GOD. King Solomon, said to be the wisest of all men, was perhaps also the greatest seeker of pleasure. He said in Ecclesiastes 2:3:

"I searched in my heart how to gratify my flesh with ? wine, while guiding my ❤️ heart with wisdom, and how to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was good for the sons of men to do under heaven all the days of their lives."

What a waste- a Life given to the pursuit of pleasure rather than the pursuit of ALMIGHTY GOD! David had learned the value of beholding the BEAUTY of the LORD, of SEEKING HIM. He knew that YAHWEH wanted a man whose ❤️ heart was submitted to HIM, and with his LIFE dedicated to pursuing GOD, David finally understood exactly what GOD wanted.

Beloved, you and I can rest assured that ALMIGHTY GOD rewards those who diligently seek HIM.

Because he has set his love upon ME, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known MY name. He shall call upon ME, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him MY salvation. Ps.91:14-16

Psalm 34 gives us the PERFECT outline for pursuing ALMIGHTY GOD. There are several steps that the psalmist suggests we follow. In verses 1-3, he tells us that we are applaud the majesty of GOD OUR CREATOR (Jehovah-Bara)

  "I will bless the LORD at all times; HIS praises shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt HIS name together."

David’s worship was a conscious choice of his will. He was determined to worship, to bless the LORD not just when he felt like it or when circumstances dictated. Just as love is an act of the will, so is praise. David made a deliberate decision with no thought of what others might or might not do. Just as Joshua before him said, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD,” so David chose, as should we, to Worship not just SOMETIMES, “AT ALL TIMES!”
