1. Prophecy itself is the word of God. See Malachi 1:1, Zechariah 12:1. When Isaiah for example prophesied, the word of the Lord from his mouth was like a messenger or a person that goes out to perform the task, Isaiah 55:11. This word made sure that every ancestor of Jesus through King David were born and that line preserved. Remember Jesus is not just the SON OF GOD, he is also the SON OF MAN.
2. But at the right time, this same WORD of God through angel Gabriel was spoken to Mary which led to creation and conception of Jesus in her womb. Jesus had no biological father that can be traced to Adam. So Jesus is literally the begotten son of God and NOT someone that appeared as or changed to a son of God.
3. When John said “in the beginning”, he was making reference to Genesis 1 creation account. God did not create the heavens and the earth using any raw material. He only spoke His WORD and things came to exist! That word was there in the beginning. Jesus couldn’t have physically existed in the mouth of God but Jesus was in the mind of God from the beginning as the word/logos.
4. Since Jesus’s place of origin through his father is actually heaven and not any country on earth, only Jesus could boast of coming from heaven instead of from Nigeria or America. This does not mean that he was God that incarnated into Mary’s womb. Jesus is not God the son but he is the son of God.
5. This last point is more like a hard saying for us to understand. God has the capability of summoning or calling things that dont yet exist as if they exist, see Romans 4:17. In a similar way, God could tell Jeremiah that even before he was born, He had some relationship with him, Jeremiah 1:4,5. This is because God is not bound by time unlike us and there’s nothing impossible with God.
6. In the same way, Jesus was real in God’s mind/logos even before he was born. John 8:56 said that Abraham saw the day of Jesus and rejoiced. But the only time Abraham laughed was after God promised him a child (GEN 17:17), hence the boy’s name was called ISAAC or ‘He laughs’. Abraham could use his eyes of faith to SEE that the promised child is NOT ISAAC but Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:16), so he by faith saw Jesus and laughed. But the same Jesus is actually the son of Abraham and not his ancestor (Matthew 1:1).
