There’s a similarity between Ezekiel 40-48 and Revelation 11:1-2. Ezekiel 40ff. starts with the vision of the angel measuring the glorious kingdom age temple that will be built on the temple mount. While Revelation 11:1,2 measures out the temple but the talks of the trampling down of the mount by the nations.

They will trample on the holy city for 42 months. 3 And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” |
Now this is how 1260 years connected Revelation 11 to Ezekiel 41.
Ezekiel got the vision to measure the temple in 572BC.
Eze 40:1 ISV At the beginning of year 25 of our captivity, on the tenth day of the fourteenth year after the destruction of Jerusalem —on that very day—the LORD grabbed me in his hand and took me there.
14th year after the destruction will be 586BC – 14 = 572BC
The beginning of the trampling of the temple mount shown to John in Revelation 11, which is the laying of the foundation of the Dome of the rock is 688Ad
There’s exactly 1260 years gap between these 2 similar prophecies.
572BC + 688AD = 1260 years!
Then another 1260 years from 688 gives 1948 that is:
2520 – 572BC = 1948 AD (Year of Israel Independence)
Just in case you don’t know, here are some peculiarities of 2520 years:
3.5 times =1260 years
Therefore 7 times = 1260 x 2 =2520 years.
Also 1 Time =360 years
Therefore 7 Times = 7 x 360 = 2520 years. Compare Daniel 4:16, 23.
7 prophetic times from the year the decree/word came to Ezekiel that the temple will be measured/restored (572BC), to the year the trampling on the temple mount began (688AD) as shown to John to the year the Independence of the State of Israel was declared (1948)!

So, the desolation of Israel is actually a Sabbath rest for the land in multiples of 7. What can we make of these 7 prophetic times? Is it the fulfilment of the 7 times prophecy of desolation from Moses to the house of Israel? In a sense, we can say that Judah never had a real independence since the time the Babylonians exiled them up till 1948 that they once again became a Jewsish state. Yet another prophecy in Leviticus 26 says:
18“‘If after all this you will not listen to me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over. 19I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze. 20Your strength will be spent in vain, because your soil will not yield its crops, nor will the trees of your land yield their fruit.
21“‘If you remain hostile toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over, as your sins deserve. 22I will send wild animals against you, and they will rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and make you so few in number that your roads will be deserted.
23“‘If in spite of these things you do not accept my correction but continue to be hostile toward me, 24I myself will be hostile toward you and will afflict you for your sins seven times over. 25And I will bring the sword on you to avenge the breaking of the covenant. When you withdraw into your cities, I will send a plague among you, and you will be given into enemy hands.
If 1 prophetic Time = 360 years
Then 7 prophetic Times = 2,520 years. This means that the true restoration of Israel is not Nehemiah’s but 1948! It is this 1948 restoration of the Jews that will usher in the 3rd temple and messianic era as prophesied by all the prophets especially Isaiah and Ezekiel.
Once again: 7 prophetic times from the year the decree/word came to Ezekiel that the temple will be measured/restored (572BC), to the year the trampling on the temple mount began (688AD) as shown to John to the year the Independence of the State of Israel was declared (1948)!
